In light of the difficult challenges in the 21st century, Ming Chuan University not only actively cultivates talents for Taiwan in numerous professions but also plans a series of diverse, life-oriented, humanitarian and knowledgeable club and extracurricular activities with the purpose of letting students interact with other group members; learn how to respect other people and get acclimated to community living. As result, Ming Chuan students can have a better understanding of what kinds of roles they might play in the future development of Taiwan. This educational philosophy is the one of the most distinctive features of Ming Chuan University. Student Affairs Division (Extracurricular Activities Advising Section) is also continuously striving for achieving this vision.
MCU student organizations are divided into 8 main categories including: governance clubs, comprehensive clubs, academic clubs, recreational clubs, arts clubs, fun and leisure clubs, volunteering and physical activity clubs. MCU Taipei, Taoyuan and Kinmen campuses have a total of 155 student organizations, among which the activities are both diverse and lively. In line with Ministry of Education program, extracurricular activities will mainly focus on providing services for middle and elementary school clubs and working with non-profit organizations to promote public services. MCU on-campus activities will also be announced each month in order to let future MCU students have a better understand of the club activities.
Ming Chuan University 10 Pillars Competencies are: Morals, Knowledge, Health (Sports), Teamwork, Aesthetics, Planning, Communication, Employment, Internationalization and Technology. Among them, Teamwork aims to cultivate students’ team spirit, and encourage them to actively participate in extracurricular activities that serve the community.
Teamwork:
- Students who have team spirit, actively participate in group activities and meet one of the following criteria are deemed as passing the basic requirement:
- Participate in group activities on or off-campus (proof required) (including: Freshmen Choral Contest, Cheerleading Dance Competition, debate competitions, intelligent robot team competition, etc.).
- Serve as officer of student self-governance organization or departmental student association for more than one semester.
- Join in registered student club organization and participate in club activities for more than one semester with attendance at more than two thirds of meetings.
- Participate in on- or off-campus group competitions (proof required).
Students who pass basic requirement of Teamwork and meet one of the following conditions are deemed as achieving distinctive performance:
- Participate in international competition as representative of the country.
- Participate in international or domestic competition and win a prize.
- Participate in regional competition and place among the top three.
- Serve as officer of student club that is evaluated as outstanding and above in Student Club Evaluation and recommended by Extracurricular Activities Section.
Extracurricular Activities Section student volunteer recruitment (counted as service-learning hours) and Student Club service volunteer recruitment (counted for rewards according to cumulative hours of service for university-wide public recognition).

Students may use the service hours as service-learning hours or register as student club service volunteers to amass the service hour requirement for rewards and university-wide public recognition.
