Influenza Prevention
1. The most effective way to prevent influenza is to receive periodic influenza vaccinations.
2. Keep your hands clean.
a. Wash your hands frequently.
b. Wash your hands immediately after coughing or sneezing.
c. Do not directly touch your eyes, nose or mouth with your hands.
3. Be aware of respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette.
a. Wear a surgical mask when you have respiratory symptoms and replace it immediately when the mask is exposed to nasal mucus.
b. When you sneeze, please use tissue or handkerchief to cover your nose and mouth. You also can use your sleeve instead of tissue or handkerchief to cover your nose and mouth.
c. If you have respiratory symptoms, keep an appropriate distance from others when you are talking to them.
4. Stay at home when you are sick.
a. Go to see doctor immediately when you have influenza symptoms and follow the doctor’s orders to take medicine.
b. Stay at home when you are sick, take leave from office and school, and avoid taking public transportation.
5. Reduce accessing public places or crowded areas during the influenza season.
6. Maintain flow of fresh air indoors to lower the risk of contagion.
7. Pay attention to having a balanced diet, exercise and proper rest to maintain good health.
